ABOUT THE CLASS

Madison has a background teaching a variety of levels and ages, ranging from youth to professionals. Her dynamic, contemporary class plays with finding momentum and efficiency in movement, floor-work, and the interplay between tension and softness. The class opens with an improvisational warm-up and slowly builds in physicality and structure. Madison hones in on the felt experience and finds ways to follow sensation in the moment, as well as push outside of perceived limits. She slowly introduces movement vocabulary and phrasework, culminating in a longer piece of choreography, where students are encouraged to apply their own artistic voice to the material. The goal of the class is not only to familiarize with a new movement vocabulary, but to provide a foundation that can be applied outside the classroom.
